Pete Tascarella (PT4P) - 2005, 4 pt. Padauk, curly maple
Pete Tascarella has been making cues in the Balabushka style since 1976.  He met George Balabushka as a 20-year-old when he bought his first Balabushka cue. Their relationship changed around 1971 when Pete was working as a New York City detective, and Mr. Balabushka saw him get a medal from then-Mayor Lindsay on TV for his service regarding an armed robbery case.  From that point on, George treated him as more than a customer, and a friendship developed over lunch & coffee.  Pete had no interest in building cues at that time.
After George passed away in 1974, he went to see Mrs. Balabushka to pay his respects and hoping to buy some of the Cortland 256 linen and Penn fishing line George used for his wraps; he ended up buying the entire contents of the shop: George's lathe (which Pete is still using), finished blanks, ringwork, taps and dies. With the assistance of his son, Pete Jr., he makes cues exactly the way Balabushka did. In Pete's own words, “He mastered it, why should I do it any other way?”
This cue is made very much in the classic Balabushka style that Tascarella is known for.
Four short-spliced points Padauk with four veneers (black, double gray, and natural) in a curly maple forearm. Padauk butt sleeve with traditional white delrin butt cap and brown Bushka-type rubber bumper. Piloted stainless steel joint with 5/16-14 pin, black linen phenolic joint and shaft collars with a single nickel silver ring. The cue is brand new (just finished in February), unplayed & unchalked. White with light green speck Irish linen. 19.7 oz. Signed “Tascarella” in-between the points.
(2) 13mm shafts with ivory ferrules. A full set of joint protectors is included.
There is currently a 3-1/2 year wait list for Tascarella cues.
