Abear Cues - A698   (Detail)

Return to Custom Cue List

ABEAR (A698) - 1998 6 pt. Pink Ivorywood, Ebony, Antelope Horn handle
This is possibly the most beautiful cue ever made by Steve Hebert, who claims it is his personal favorite, and also one of his best hitting cues. Hebert made cues under the “Abear” name in Arlington, Texas for 17 years before retiring from cue making in 2001. He was known for his use of unusual natural horn and bone. Hebert takes pride in the fact that he always used legal sources, obtained from the Eskimos. He considers it an art form just working with the materials, and there are many collectors who agree.
Six pink ivorywood points in Gabon ebony (Prather blank), with a matching butt sleeve crafted of black Gemsbok Oryx horn (a large African antelope) inlaid with six shorter pink ivorywood points. The handle is also beautiful Gemsbok Oryx horn. The flat-faced joint is creamy, 10,000-year-old Mammoth ivory with a 3/8-10 brass pin and a custom walrus jawbone joint pin protector.  The legally sourced pre-72 walrus jaw bone is also used in the rings at ADE, and for the large bands at B & C. Dated on the forearm on one of the short points “4-98”.
