PAUL MOTTEY 2002 (PM02) 4 pt. Ebony, Szamboti-style Ivory inlays, Ivory Joint & Butt cap

Four sharp, perfect points of Gabon ebony with four veneers (black, mahogany, blue, white) with a scrimmed ivory peacock inlay and two ivory dots in each point. The highly figured curly maple forearm has a light highlighting stain. Signed “Paul F. Mottey 12-02” in-between the points. Piloted solid ivory joint with 5/16-14 pin. The ebony butt sleeve has 4 large ivory razor blade windows scrimshawed in a design reminiscent of Gus Szamboti. Each window has an ivory barbell in-between. Slotted maple rings with black/blue/black veneers appear at BCD & E.

The 1-1/2 inch ivory butt cap is protected by a black rubber bumper. Ivory and ebony `Bushka' ring above the black lizard wrap. Two absolutely straight 13mm shafts with ivory ferrules, with slotted veneer rings (black/blue/black) into maple at joint and shaft collars. Shaft #1 has had test hits only and is like new; shaft #2 is played and has some chalk stain. Weight 19.9 oz. Length: 58 inches. The cue butt is in excellent condition, perfect excepting a tiny chip in the finish of the joint. A very sharp cue by a top cue maker.
