Hagan (#HC4B) 1980's 4 pt. Bacote, Rosewood, Abalone, Buckhorn
This is one of the prettiest and fanciest Hagan cues I've seen -- and it's in “like new” original condition. Hagan cues are increasingly hard to find, especially since he closed up his shop and moved to parts unknown six years ago.
Bill Hagan made cues from 1987 until 1999 in Gilbert, Arizona. He favored natural materials for his cues, and was particularly known for his use of buckhorn for joint collars and butt caps.
Four points of bacote are set in a rosewood forearm. Each point is inlaid with an abalone diamond and is tipped with an abalone dot. The bacote butt sleeve has four windows of what appears to be kingwood, each inlaid with a large 4-point bacote star set in a large abalone diamond. Scalloped ringwork of bacote veneered with red further decorate the cue above and below the black with white speck linen wrap. This ringwork also appears above the buckhorn ring at the base of the butt, separated by a thin black linen phenolic ring. The Hagan “HC” logo is engraved in the buckhorn ring. A conical black rubber bumper is attached with a hex screw.
Although abalone is fiendishly difficult to work with, Hagan also used 12 pieces of it in each of the rings trimming the buckhorn joint and shaft collars. The joint is flat-faced wood-to-wood, with a 5/16-18 stainless steel pin.
The 2 shafts (13mm and 12.85mm) are both immaculate and dead-straight; the tips have been chalked but appear to have had very little play. The cue is all-original and in superb 95% condition.
Weight: 19.5 oz.  The length is 57 inches.
