Dieckman (DD-ISP)  -  2003 custom cue for IN SOO PARK -  Full Butterfly spliced Bird's-eye maple, Wenge, Paduak, Ebony & Holly inlays

This is a cue made by Dennis Dieckman for Korean 3-cushion billiards player Soo Park in 2003. Dennis is known for his butterfly-spliced cues, and has been building cues for some of the top billiards players in the country since 1973.

The Kokopelli design motif is one of Dieckman's favorites. The humpbacked flute player is a mythical Hopi symbol, but is also found in a number of Native American cultures. The dancing figure represents a mischievous trickster or the Minstrel, the spirit of music.

Full-spliced cue with super-long butterfly points of bird's-eye maple into Wenge on a core of Paduak. The butterfly splices extend into and form the handle of the cue. Two or three ebony Kokopelli dancers in a variety of designs are inlaid in the base of each of the bird's-eye butterflies. The bird's-eye butt sleeve is defined by an 8-point “crown” of Wenge. The long points each have an inlaid holly diamond, and each short point is tipped with a holly diamond as well. Four Kokopelli designs in ebony decorate the bottom of the butt sleeve. Ringwork of Paduak and holly set into Wenge forms the `C' ring above the black linen phenolic butt cap. Wood-to-wood flat-faced joint with a black phenolic collar, G-10 pin. Signed on the forearm: “Dieckman for IN SOO PARK”.
