Gilbert (AG4E-06) - “S.T. Gator” 4 pt. Ebony, Bird's-eye, Ivory Inlays
This is a classic design, interpreted by Andy Gilbert of Clever, MO. Andy enjoys taking a traditional motif and making it his own. He started his first cues in Michigan in 1989, moving to Missouri in 1994, at which point he became a full-time cuemaker.
Andy builds his cues one at a time, by hand. He makes every component in his cues except for the bumpers and tips.
Until a few years ago, Gilbert cues were identified by a “G” logo on the butt cap. Andy now signs most of his cues on the forearm, adding the last two digits of the year the cue was made.
This cue is a duplicate of the custom cue Andy made for pro player S.T. Gator.
Four place Gabon ebony short-spliced points with 5 colored veneers of black, brown, white, double green and white in a bird's-eye maple forearm. Two ivory Tiffany diamond inlays are set in each point. The ebony butt sleeve is inlayed with four sets of ivory bars and clover leafs, alternating with four slender Tiffany diamond-shaped ivory inlays. The piloted stainless steel joint with 5/16-14 pin has slotted veneer ringwork at A, B, and C, and reverse versions in the black linen phenolic joint and shaft collars. The cue is finished with a black with white speck linen wrap. It is signed on the forearm “Gilbert 06.” The white Delrin butt cap is engraved “S.T. GATOR”.
Two immaculate 12.5 mm shafts with linen-based ferrules and new Moori tips: 3-3/4 oz., (1) 3-5/8 oz. Butt weighs 14-3/4 oz. Length: 58 inches. The weight of the cue is 18-3/8 to18-1/2 oz., depending on the shaft used.
A set of joint protectors is included.
It has a very crisp, stiff hit, due to the custom Gilbert taper.
This cue is in “like new” excellent condition (98%).
