Return to Custom Cue List

Verl Horn (VH6-73) - 6 ivory points, c. 1980's - Bird's-eye, Ebony, Ivory inlays

Verl Horn made cues from 1961 into the early 1990's in Mooreland, Oklahoma. He passed away in 1999 after a long bout with cancer. Verl and Dan Prather partnered for a time back in the 70's, when Verl asked Dan Prather to cut and construct cue materials for him. Dan became aware that there was a market opportunity for high-quality cue components, and by the early 80's he had formed his family businesses, Prather Parts and Prather Cues, in collaboration with his two sons and daughter. Verl went back to working in his one-man shop, but he continued to have Prather make some cue blanks for him. Verl supplied all the ivory from his inventory of top grade, legal elephant ivory.

Since his passing, Verl Horn's cues have become much sought after by collectors. His cues with ivory points are the most in demand. This is a rare 6-point example.

Joint and shaft collars are black linen phenolic with long, thin, 8-piece ivory dash rings at ABCDE. White engraved “HORN” logo on the bottom of the butt sleeve, indicating an earlier cue. Solid ivory flat-faced joint and butt cap.
