Richard Black (RB83-30) - 1983 4 points Holly, Kingwood, Art Deco “Polychromatic” wood inlays

Richard Black says this cue is one of only a very few polychromatic designs that he made.  Because Patke was teaching Richard how to do the polychromatics, he signed it “R. Black / B. Patke 1983”.

This is an early Richard Black artistic cue that commanded $2,500 back in 1983, a lot of money for a cue at that time. Richard says it is “priceless” as he won't make any more of them.

Kingwood forearm, 4 holly points with two veneers, each with a polychromatic wood mosaic inlaid spear point. The holly butt sleeve has four short polychromatic points with brown and maple veneers, two pointed up and two pointed down. Piloted steel 5/16-14 joint with brown linen joint collar with nickel ring. Kingwood butt cap with brown and maple rings above. Black rubber bumper with hex screw. Brown with white speck linen wrap.

Two original 13.5mm shafts; brown linen phenolic collars with a nickel silver ring, ivory ferrules. Both shafts have had light play only and are very clean:
Shaft #1: 4 oz. (114g),
Shaft #2: 3-7/8 oz. (112g).
Length: 57-1/2 inches; Shafts and butt lengths both 28-3/4 inches.
Weight 20-1/4 - 20-3/8 oz., depending on shaft used. Butt weight 16-3/8 oz. (462g).

The custom polychromatic pin protector made by Richard Black in 2007 in preparation for its display at the 2007 International Cue Collectors Show in Houston.
