McWorter (MW-1485) - “Ten Point Crown” Heartwood Bird's-eye, Ebony
The “Ten Point Crown” design in ebony and heartwood bird's-eye maple; Jerry McWorter has made this tightly-laced design in several different combinations of materials, including the ebony and ivory version shown on his website.
What makes this cue both rare and unique is his use of heartwood bird's-eye maple for the points and inlays. The heartwood (sapwood) in most maple trees is too small to be used as it is here. Jerry was thrilled to find a piece not only large enough, but also uniformly and beautifully figured.
Although it was made c. 2003, the cue is unplayed and unchalked. It is in 100% new condition.
The African ebony forearm has ten inlaid points of bird's-eye heartwood. At the base of the points are ten short points and spearheads also of bird's-eye heartwood, separated by black veneers, which create a crown effect. The ebony butt sleeve mirrors the same design on a smaller scale in reverse.
The flat-faced joint has a 3/8-10 flat-bottomed stainless steel pin, and a black linen phenolic collar decorated with two delicate silver rings. The pin has a custom ebony protector with a matching collar and silver rings.
The McWorter name and the cue's serial number 1485, appear at the base of the ebony butt sleeve on the seamlessly integrated black phenolic butt cap, protected by a push-in black rubber bumper. The cue is finished with a black pigskin leather wrap.
Two weight-matched custom Pro shafts, unchalked, with black linen phenolic collars and double silver rings, and black Delrin protectors.
