Richard Chudy (RC-SB07) - “Bel Air” 5 pt. Ivory & Snakewood, 1 of 1
Richard Chudy (pronounced: choo' dee) was one of eleven featured cue makers at the 2007 International Cue Collectors Show. This stunning snakewood and ivory commissioned cue was part of Rick's exhibit. His background as an artist and sculptor is apparent here in the elegant flow of the `Bel Air' design.
The snakewood selected for this custom cue is a superb piece of exhibition-grade wood, with even and tight figuring. Snakewood forearm with five inlaid ivory-veneered snakewood points, each tipped by a delicate ivory spearhead. The snakewood butt sleeve continues the theme with five more ivory veneered reverse points. Twenty-four-piece Sterling silver ringwork set in black linen phenolic decorates the cue at CD&E.

The flat-faced wood-to-wood joint features the carbon fiber joint pin that Chudy debuted in 2005. Similar to the G-10 glass epoxy, it's also a low mass material, lighter, stronger, and more flexible than titanium or steel. The concept evolved from a search for a black joint pin. This proprietary pin has the same custom profile as he designed for his G-10 pin, a modified 3/8-10 thread. The combination of the carbon fiber pin and the black linen phenolic collar makes this cue a superb playing instrument. As Rick explains it, “The carbon fiber takes a big chunk of weight out of the middle of the cue, making it more responsive.”
An ivory plug in the tip of the pin is engraved with “rc3” and the serial number, “03607”. The Richard Chudy Custom Cues logo “rc3” is engraved in gold on the forearm just above the black linen phenolic butt cap. The cue is finished with a smooth black leather wrap and black rubber push-in bumper.
Two matched 12.85mm shafts, unchalked. Comes with a full set of joint protectors, including a custom snakewood, ivory and silver pin protector with the rc3 logo engraved in the ivory top.
Weight: 18-7/8 oz. (534g). Length: 58 inches.
The cue is 100% new, unplayed condition.
PRICE: $3,200 SOLD
