Capone Custom Cues  -  MC6-EMT   (Detail)

Return to Custom Cue List

Capone (MC6-EMT) - 6-point Ebony, Turquoise, Bird's-eye Maple, silver ringwork, custom JPs
Capone Custom Cues are individually crafted by Mike Capone. After his start in Mercerville, NJ in 1993, he was quickly recognized by his peers as one of the finest new cuemakers on the scene. He was inducted into the American Cue Makers Association in 1996 at the age of 24, one of the youngest cuemakers to be so recognized. Capone cues have a combination of beauty and playability that make them valued by collectors and highly regarded by players, including several top pros. Bill Stroud (Josswest) told me not long ago that he thinks Mike is one of the best of the “new generation” of cuemakers.
Michael believes that playability is the most important aspect of a pool cue. The handles in his cues are specially designed and built for stability and playability. He makes over 20 separate cuts on each shaft, and threads the ferrules. Every part of a Capone cue is made by Michael in his Poolesville, MD shop except for the tips, bumpers, and screws.
This is one of two cues Michael has made of this design. Each of the six ebony prongs in the bird's-eye maple forearm is inlaid with a turquoise diamond as well as a turquoise spear tip. The ebony and turquoise inlays in the bird's-eye butt sleeve continue the design theme. Sterling silver ringwork set in black linen phenolic further decorates the cue above and below the black with blue speck linen wrap, and also appears above the black butt cap and at the joint and shaft collars (ABCDE).
The flat-faced wood-to-wood joint has a 3/8 x 7.5 radial pin, which has been used on Capone cues since 1997. The tip of the pin is engraved “Capone Custom Cues.”
Two matched 12.75mm, 3.5 oz. shafts with ivory ferrules and backed Moori tips.  Both are played but are in very good condition; no dings or dents, slight chalk stain (see detail photos).
The finish is immaculate. Overall condition is 95%.
Weight: 18-3/8 oz. (525g).
Length: 58 inches.
A 3-piece set of custom joint protectors, made of ebony, turquoise and silver, is included (a $350 option).
