Hagan (#BH-97) - 4 pt. Bird's-eye, Macassar Ebony, Chechen burl, Buckhorn
This beautiful Bill Hagan cue is in superb original condition. Hagan cues are increasingly hard to find, especially since he closed up his shop and moved to parts unknown nine years ago.
Bill Hagan made cues from 1987 until 1999 in Gilbert, Arizona. He favored natural materials for his cues, and was particularly known for his use of buckhorn and elk horn for joint collars and butt caps.
Four short-spliced points of bird's-eye maple are set in a richly figured Macassar ebony forearm. Each point is inlaid with a delicate Chechen burl tapered box. The Macassar butt sleeve has four Chechen burl ovals alternating with four bird's-eye barbells tipped with Chechen dots bordered in brass. The elk horn butt cap is decorated with a black band and a thin elk horn ring. The Hagan “HC” logo is engraved in the elk horn cap. This ringwork also appears at the base of the buckhorn-collared joint. The joint is flat-faced wood-to-wood, with a 5/16-18 stainless steel pin. The shafts have buckhorn joint and shaft collars with a single black linen phenolic ring.
A black rubber bumper is attached with a hex screw. The wrap is Hagan's standard black with white speck Irish linen.
The two 13mm shafts with Aegis ferrules and LePro tips are both very clean and dead straight; one has had very little play. The one owner cue is all original and in superb 95% condition.
Weight: 20.6 oz. The butt length is 28-1/2 inches; the shafts are 29-1/2 inches for a total length of 58 inches.
