pfd Studios (Drexler) 2001 Walnut Burl, Ivory & ebony inlays (PFD-WB01)
In 1989, Paul Drexler combined his love of woodworking and pool, starting to make cues while keeping his corporate day job. Two years later, after meeting and talking with many top cuemakers, he was invited to visit Bert Schrager's shop and get some hands-on knowledge from a cue craftsman with nearly 30 years of experience. The trip changed his life, resulting in Paul's decision to become a full-time cuemaker.
Pfd Studios specializes in creating unique and artistic cues for collectors. Paul showcases some of these one-of-a-kind cues are at the invitational International Cue Collectors Show held every fall.
Description:
Pfd Studios walnut burl “merry widow” cue made in 2001 by Paul Drexler. This cue is one of two created in this design from an extraordinary piece of walnut burl. Inlaid above and below the wrap and at the base of the butt cap (A, B and C) are 16 ivory triangle inlays, each inlaid with ebony. There are a total of 96 inlays. The cue is made in the “thin butt” style. The walnut burl was cored for stability and to assure straightness.
The piloted stainless steel joint has a Uni-Loc radial pin (3/8 x 7.5 thread). Black linen phenolic joint and shaft collars have a thin silver ring. The black butt cap is engraved with the `pfd01' in white. The wrap is a rich, brown `alligator' embossed leather.
A complete set of walnut burl and ivory custom joint protectors, engraved with the `pfd' logo, is included.
Two 29-inch shafts with ivory ferrules and layered tips:
Shaft #1: 13mm, 3.7 oz., light play, very clean;
Shaft #2: 13mm, 3.95 oz., unchalked, like new.
Butt weight: 13.3 oz. The overall cue weight is 17 to 17-1/4 oz., depending on shaft used. Length: 58-1/8 inches.
This cue is in excellent condition; the seller is the original owner. The original finish has no scratches or dings.
