Jack Shurtz (SCC6-00) - 2000 6 pt. Ebony, Bird's-eye, Cocobolo, Ivory inlays, 3 shafts

Jack Shurtz began making cues in his Wichita garage in 1983, having learned his trade from the late Verl Horn, a Mooreland, Oklahoma cuemaker. When he partnered with Bob Owen in 1994, they moved into a shop in Wichita. Shurtz Custom Cues later expanded into a larger facility with a retail store in the front, where they specialize in custom cues made to the customer's specifications.

Description:
This 2000 one-of-a-kind custom cue has a beautifully figured bird's-eye maple forearm with 6 inlaid ebony points, three high and three low, all with black and white veneers. There is an ivory oval inlay in the base of each point. The ebony butt sleeve is embellished with six large cocobolo inlays veneered in white. Three of the inlays are in the shape of the Zia sun symbol with an ivory oval in the center. The three alternating shapes form a reverse of the Zia and have two ivory oval inlays.

The piloted Ivorine 3 joint has a stainless steel 5/16-14 pin and a black linen phenolic joint collar. The 15-stitch cocobolo and maple ringwork set in black linen phenolic appears above and below the black with white speck Irish linen wrap, above the butt cap, and at the joint and shaft collars (A, B, C, D and E). The cue is marked by the `SHURTZ' logo engraved in black on the Ivorine 3 butt cap, with the year marked as `00' underneath.

Three straight shafts with backed Moori tips:
Shaft #1: 11.8mm, 3.8 oz., Ivorine 3 ferrule, played, light chalk stain;
Shaft #2: 11.9mm, 3.5 oz., Ivorine 3 ferrule, played, light chalk stain;
Shaft #3: 12.65mm, 3.7mm Melamine ferrule, chalked, immaculate.
Butt weight: 15 oz.  Length: 58 inches.
Total cue weight: 18.5 to 18.8 oz., depending on shaft used.
The balance point is 18 inches from the end of the butt sleeve.

Excellent 90-95% condition. The original cost in 2000 was $2,500.
A handsome cue at a great price.
